HUNTRESS Vent Locations: How to Find a Vent That Works as Cover

Vents are scattered all over HUNTRESS, but some are just decoration. How to test a vent, where the generator-room vent waits, and when you need to be inside.

Vents are the game's own answer to the HUNTRESS spider: you can't outrun it, so you crouch into a metal duct and wait inside until it leaves. But not every vent-shaped opening in the building actually works — some are pure decoration that can't be entered. The dependable test is the attempt itself: try crouching in. If you can get inside, it's real cover; if the game blocks you, it's scenery, and you move on to the next opening.

In practice:

  1. Note vents as you go. They're scattered all over the building, so remember the nearest one to where you are.
  2. Move the moment the lamps flicker. Flickering light means the spider is on your floor and closing in.
  3. Crouch into the nearest metal duct and test it. If you fit, wait inside until it leaves; if the game blocks entry, take the next opening.

Where to find a working vent

A working vent waits in the generator-room area: it's easy to slip into, and you can wait inside until the spider moves off. It's the one vent you can head to on purpose — everywhere else, use the crouch-in test.

Beyond that landmark, don't count on a memorized room list. Vents are plentiful and one is rarely far, so the useful preparation is noticing vent-shaped openings as you move and remembering your nearest one before the spider closes in.

When to get inside

You can't outrun the spider, so don't wait for it to arrive. When the lamps start flickering, it's already on your floor and closing in — reach a duct before then, and don't push your luck by lingering once it's near. If the lights are already flickering, you may not get inside in time, which is why you move before the flicker starts.

What a vent does and doesn't do

A working vent hides you; it doesn't make you untouchable. The spider can still notice a player inside — it has been seen sitting and staring at someone in a vent. So once you're in, commit: stay quiet, don't peek out, and wait for it to move off.

In multiplayer, teammates can see and talk to you while you're in a vent, and a downed player can be revived right there in the duct by a teammate — so reaching a vent is worth it even in a bad spot.
